Warner Bros. TV, Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group and Plan B Entertainment are teaming for a TV series reboot of Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning 2006 crime drama feature “The Departed” which has landed at Amazon Studios.
Written by “Detroit 1-8-7” creator Jason Richman, the show puts a new spin on the two-way-undercover concept in the Scorsese movie which dealt with the Irish mob in Boston, and the Hong Kong setting of the original “Infernal Affairs” upon which ‘Departed’ was based.
In the TV series version, the action is set in present-day Chicago and admist the warring ethnic drug gangs. A young cop goes undercover to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, at the same time the gang plants its own man in the police department. The two moles attempt to stay alive.
Jason Richman, Graham King, Roy Lee, Michael Connolly, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Sarah Esberg, Tripp Vinson, Doug Davison and Gianni Nunnari will all serve as producers.
