Amazon Sets Date For Ghibli’s “Ronja” Series

Back in October came word that legendary Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli is teaming with Amazon Prime to bring Ghibli’s first TV series to the United States. Now we have an airdate.

All twenty-six episodes of “Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter” have been dubbed in English and will be available for streaming from January 27th on Amazon’s Prime Video. Check out the new trailer with the announcement below.

“Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter” follows the only daughter of a chief bandit who grows up in the Scandinavian woodlands and eventually makes friends with the son of the rival clan’s chief.

Goro Miyazaki (“From Up On Poppy Hill”), son of Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki, will serve as the show’s director while “The X-Files” and “The Fall” star Gillian Anderson will serves as the show’s English narrator.
