Amazon Studios has set an August 4th premiere date in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for “Comrade Detective,” a 1980s-set Romanian cop comedy spoof series boasting an all star voice cast.

In fact the list includes Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chloe Sevigny, Jake Johnson, Jason Mantzoukas, Nick Offerman, Fred Armisen, Kim Basinger, Mahershala Ali, Tracey Letts, Bobby Cannavale, Richard Jenkins, Debra Winger and Mark Duplass.

Amazon Studios and A24 co-produced the series which has been created by “The Sitter” screenwriters Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka. The series is pitched as a “one-of-a-kind cop show and comedy set in 1980s Romania” that follows Detectives Gregor Anghel (Florin Piersic Jr.) and Iosef Baciu (Corneliu Ulici).

The show is presented in Romanian and dubbed in English, as a Romanian show of that time would have been, with Tatum and Levitt providing the voices of the two cops and the others handling supporting characters.
