Amazon has announced that they’ve become the new home for “The Boys,” the upcoming series adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book. An eight episode first season has been ordered to premiere in 2019.
Set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as ‘the boys,’ who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who executive produce AMC’s comic adaptation “Preacher,” will do the same here with “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke serving as showrunner. Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur and Pavun Shetty will also executive produce.
