Amazon Renews Its “Jack Ryan” Series Early

Months before the series is set to premiere, Amazon Studios has already renewed its upcoming TV series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” for a second season.

John Krasinski takes on the role of the CIA analyst who has had five films to date, most notably the original “The Hunt for Red October”.

Amazon says that after the Super Bowl trailer for the series came out, Amazon saw a more than 400% increase in Prime members putting the show on their watchlist.

Executive producers/showrunners Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Graham Roland (“Fringe”) will return for the eight-episode second season. Krasinski and Wendell Pierce will return as Ryan and his boss James Greer. No word as yet if Abbie Cornish will return as Cathy Muller.

There’s even a synopsis available with Jack Ryan confronting the forces in power in a dangerous, declining democratic regime in South America. The first season deals with ISIS and a Middle Eastern threat.

Production on the second season commences this summer in Europe, South America and the United States. The first season of ten episodes debuts August 31st.
