Amazon has announced that they’ve picked up their recent pilots “Hand of God” and “Red Oaks” to series. Both shows will return to Prime Instant Video next year as full series following customer reaction to the pilot episodes.
‘God’ stars Ron Perlman as a law-bending married judge who suffers a mental breakdown and goes on a vigilante quest to find the rapist who tore his family apart. He begins to rely on visions he believes are being sent by God through his ventilator-bound son.
“Red Oaks” is set in 1985 and centers on a college student (Craig Roberts) reeling from his father’s heart attack and conflicted about what major to declare in the fall. He gets a summer job as an assistant tennis pro at the Red Oaks Country Club in suburban New Jersey.
Amazon has also announced that the third season of its period procedural drama “Ripper Street” will premiere on its U.K. version of its Amazon Prime Instant Video service starting on November 14th and running through to December 26th.
The eight-episode season will subsequently air on BBC One in the U.K. and BBC America in the U.S. in 2015, but the UK Amazon Prime version will include scenes not shown in the BBC versions. There’s no plans for Amazon Prime in the U.S. to pickup the season.
