Amazon Studios and Sky Vision have announced that the streaming giant has picked up the second season of Sky Atlantic’s “Fortitude” which will be added to Amazon’s Prime Video lineup of dramatic original series.
The first season of the British psychological thriller series premiered in 2015 and became Sky Atlantic’s most successful original drama commission to date, nabbing a premiere audience of 3.2 million.
The story is set in a small Norwegian community high above the Arctic Circle, one made up of an international scientific community assembled in one of the most dangerous places on Earth. It’s also one undergoing change and upheaval due to parasite and pathogen activity. In the second season, a new murder has been discovered in this small town of just 713 people.
Neither Stanley Tucci or Michael Gambon are returning, but Dennis Quaid is hopping onboard this year and is joined by Richard Dormer, Michelle Fairley, Sofie Grabol, Luke Treadaway, Sienna Guillory, Ken Stott, Robert Sheehan, Mia Jexen, Alexandra Moen, Darren Boyd and Parminder Nagra.
The series is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in the US later this year. The first season has been available on Prime Video in the US since January 2016.
