Amazon has reportedly given a pilot order for the half-hour comedy “I Love Dick”.
Award-winning “Transparent” creator and acclaimed filmmaker Jill Soloway is directing and executive producing the new show based on Chris Kraus’ influential 1997 novel. Playwright Sarah Gubbins will pen the adaptation.
Told in Rashomon-style POV shifts, the story is set in a colorful academic community in Texas and follows struggling married couple, Chris and Sylvere. The pair share a mutual obsession with an off-putting but charismatic professor named Dick and as events progress, their marriage unravels and an inner artist awakens.
Andrea Sperling will also executive produce. This joins two other pilots the streaming service has in pre-production – “The Last Tycoon” and “The Interestings”.
