Amazon is in negotiations with Sony Pictures TV to pick up the scrapped CBS drama pilot “Sneaky Pete” which they plan to put on their Amazon Prime Instant Video platform where they will invite viewers to weigh on its merits as a potential series.
“Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston and legendary “House” and “Family Law” producer David Shore serve as co-writers and executive producers on the project which follows a conman (Giovanni Ribisi) who assumes his former cellmate’s identity when he gets out of prison. He winds up working for the bail bond business run by his newly adopted family.
Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Libe Barer, Peter Gerety and Shane McRae co-star. The deal has not been finalized, but if it works it means producers of failed pilots may have an alternate option if commissioning networks decide against picking up their shows to series.
