Sony Pictures has delayed its Ice Age drama “Alpha” by half a year, from March 2nd until September 14th. Directed by Albert Hughes, the film stars Kodi Smit-McPhee and follows a young warrior trying to survive in the frozen wilds 20,000 years ago.
No reason was given for the delay. The film was previously going by the name “The Solutrean” but was changed a few weeks ago when the first trailer and poster were released. It will now open against “The Darkest Minds” and “Fighting with My Family”.
Sony has also pushed back the “Goosebumps” sequel by several weeks – from September 21st to October 12th. Ari Sandel helms the project which is expected to be more of a direct adaptation of some of the books in the series as opposed to a meta take like the first film.
