Almost All Of Eastwood’s “Sully” Shot In IMAX

IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond has revealed that filmmaker Clint Eastwood is shooting his new film “Sully” almost entirely with IMAX cameras – the first film released where virtually the whole film was made with the technology.

To date most major features that shoot in IMAX have only shot certain sequences with the technology – such as next month’s “Captain America: Civil War” which contains roughly half an hour of footage filmed with IMAX cameras.

Anthony and Joe Russo have previously announced that both parts of Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” saga will be shot entirely with a new 2D digital IMAX camera – but those films have not begun production yet and won’t be out for another two years.

Tom Hanks and Laura Linney star in the film about US Airways Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, the pilot who heroically landed the troubled Flight 1549 full of passengers on the Hudson River. “Sully” opens September 9th.
