Oscar winner Allison Janney has signed on to star in the dramatic thriller “Lou” which hails from producer J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company which will make it independently from Paramount.
Dubbed a blend of “Thelma and Louise” and “Taken,” Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley penned the script which follows a young woman and her landlord, Lou, who team up to track down the former’s child after the girl is kidnapped by her estranged husband.
Janney will play the landlord, a hard-shelled and rule-breaking woman that has unexpectedly impressive tracking abilities. Anna Foerster (“Outlander,” “Jessica Jones”) directs the project which Abrams and Braden Aftergood will produce. Shooting aims to begin in the Spring.
