Allison Janney (“The West Wing,” “The Way Way Back”) has joined Campbell Scott’s indie film adaptation of Joan Didion’s 1977 novel “A Book of Common Prayer”.
Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men,” “Drive”) plays an American woman who arrives in a fictional Central American country on the verge of revolution in the hopes of being reunited with her fugitive 19-year-old daughter.
Janney plays an anthropologist who married into the ruling family of the country. Scott also stars in the film as the husband of Hendricks’s character, while Hart Bochner will play the missing daughter’s father.
Marcia Weiss is producing and filming begins in June.
