Alison Brie (“Community,” “BoJack Horseman”) has booked the starring role in Netflix’s ten-episode comedy series “GLOW”. GLOW, aka Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, is inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league.
Set in Los Angeles, Brie plays an out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly syndicated TV series about female wrestlers. Liz Flahive (“Homeland”) and Carly Mensch (“Orange Is the New Black”) serve as showrunners.
Meanwhile, “Frozen” and “Veronica Mars” actress Kristen Bell is partnering with Gaumont Television (“Hannibal,” “Narcos”) on the animated musical series “Do, Re & Mi” which features original songs performed by Bell and American Idol finalist Jackie Tohn along with other guests.
The series will comprise 52 episodes of 11 minutes each and will extend into apps, games and music videos, among other platforms. Tohn and Michael Scharf created the series.
