What’s one way to make “Alien” scarier? Do it in VR with Xenomorphs in every dark corner and Facehuggers scuttling toward you ready to jump right at you.
The Fox Innovation Lab and filmmaker Ridley Scott have teamed up for a virtual reality (VR) experience that ties in with Fox’s “Alien: Covenant”. The experience will be available as a paid title on major VR platforms.
The Fox Innovation Lab team says the aim of the experience is to offer: “a dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe… Viewers will discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death.”
Fox Innovation Lab was behind “The Martian VR Experience” at CES in Las Vegas a year ago, and has since released it on HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift. There’s no word on an exact release date yet for “Alien: Covenant” in VR, though will probably tie in to the film’s release in May.
