Indian actor Ali Fazal (“Victoria & Abdul”) has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie adaptation “Death on the Nile” at 20th Century Fox.
The sequel to 2017’s “Murder on the Orient Express,” Branagh returns both as director and starring as Detective Hercule Poirot. In the new film, Poirot is enjoying a luxurious cruise down the Nile when a newlywed heiress is found murdered onboard, forcing him to identify the killer before the ship reaches the end of its journey – one that will claim more lives.
The cast already includes Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright, Tom Bateman, Russell Brand and four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening.
Michael Green is returning to pen the script based on Christie’s 1937 novel of the same name. Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Kevin Walsh, Judy Hofflund and Mark Gordon are producing the film for a December 20th 2020 release.
“Death on the Nile” was previously brought to the big screen in 1978 with a star-studded cast that included Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, David Niven, George Kennedy and Peter Ustinov as detective Hercule Poirot.
