Alfre Woodard Joins “The Lion King”

Alfre Woodard is set to voice Sarabi, mother of the young lion cub Simba (Donald Glover) in Jon Favreau’s remake of “The Lion King” for Disney Pictures. Additionally, John Kani (“Captain America: Civil War”) will voice the baboon royal advisor Rafiki.

Madge Sinclair voiced Sarabi and Robert Guillaume voiced Rafiki in the original 1994 Disney animated version. The pair joins a cast that includes James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and the likes of Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Oliver.

Jeff Nathanson penned the script with Favreau and Jeffrey Silver producing. The project is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
