Stage director Alex Timbers (“Rocky: The Musical”) has signed on to direct “Rosaline,” the revisionist take on “Romeo & Juliet” at Universal Pictures.
Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (“500 Days of Summer”) penned the project based on Rebecca Serle’s 2012 novel “When You Were Mine”.
The story is a more comedic take on Shakespeare’s tale of star-crossed lovers, one told from the perspective of the woman Romeo dumped for her cousin Juliet.
Though set in the classic period of the play, it will use modern language. Shawn Levy is producing.
