“Solo: A Star Wars Story” star Alden Ehrenreich has signed on to play the lead role in USA Network’s “Brave New World,” the ten-episode straight-to-series adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s celebrated book which is often listed as one of the greatest English-language novels of the 20th century.
Set 632 years into the future in the city of New London, the story imagines a utopian society which has achieved peace and stability through a rigid social order prohibiting monogamy, privacy, money, family and history itself. The work anticipated developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning.
Ehrenreich will play John the Savage, a young man raised outside the confines of the New World whose presence threatens to disrupt the rigid social order of the utopian New London. This will be Ehrenreich’s first series-regular role.
Universal Content Productions and Amblin Television are producing the series with “Homecoming” producer David Wiener serving as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor, Owen Harris, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will also executive produce.
