In addition “Roma” was ineligible for the film list because of its foreign financing, but was honored with a special award by the committee. On the TV side there was “The Americans,” “The Assassination of Gianni Versace,” “Atlanta,” “Barry,” “Better Call Saul,” “The Kominsky Method,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Pose,” “Succession,” and “This Is Us”.

France’s Cahiers du Cinema has also announced their Top 10 list: “The Wild Boys,” “Coincoin and the Extra-Humans,” “Phantom Thread,” “Burning,” “Paul Sanchez est revenu!,” “The Post,” “On the Beach at Night Alone,” “The House That Jack Built,” “Leto,” “Treasure Island”

Finally, IndieWire senior critic David Ehrlich has released his annual video countdown of his favorite films of the year and once again has beautifully edited together the clip to an eclectic mix of music resulting in some great moments such as the Portman & creature dance in “Annihilation” being set to “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.
