“Everything is awesome” is effectively the official line coming out of Warner Bros. Pictures today in the wake of publicised issues regarding their solo “The Batman” film which will star, is being co-written by, and was supposed to have been directed by Ben Affleck.
Rumors first surfaced at Forbes who indicated that Matt Reeves (“Cloverfield,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”) had become the frontrunner to take over directing duties. More interestingly it was suggested if he or one of the other candidates get in, then the script they will undergo substantial changes and possible another full rewrite from scratch.
Variety reporter Justin Kroll has shot down the latter part of those rumors, several sources telling him that most involved – including studio chiefs and Affleck himself – are very happy with it. Warner Bros. has a strict “no comment on rumors” policy in place.
The Forbes report also suggests Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, Jared Leto‘s Joker, and possibly more villains were a part of the story which is no longer being used. It’s hoped “The Batman” will go into production later this year.
