Affleck Talks The New Batsuit & Directing

Ben Affleck is out doing promotion for “The Accountant” opening in cinemas on Friday and spoke with Extra about the recently released photo of himself in the new Batsuit for Zack Snyder’s “Justice League”.

Affleck confirms he wears just the two suits in the film – the one we already saw in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and this new tactical suit:

“There’s two suits in Justice League. One is the one that we’ve seen before, and then one that he augments because of the nature of the mission, which I can’t give away. But it was a chance for them to play with the suit and add elements to it and kind of tech it out, and I thought they did a really good job. It was really fun.”

Affleck confirmed again that he will be writing and directing the standalone Batman film with J.K. Simmons reprising his role as Commissioner Gordon from “Justice League”. Talking about the demands of directing with Coming Soon he says:

“Movies are all about the director. I’ve learned that, finally. When you work with a director, you’re on his or her ship. You’re going in that direction. Your job is to be creative and bring forth your ideas, but to fulfil this person’s vision of how they’re telling the whole story. You have a silo that you’re responsible for in your performance. For me, it’s about getting as in tune with a director as possible. You’re making their movieā€¦ The nice thing about [just] acting is that, if the set falls down, you can just go back to your trailer. Things are not my problem.”

In related news, actor Samuel L. Jackson spoke with Collider recently and took a few shots at the DC universe films. When asked ‘Why can’t DC and Marvel movies be good?’ he responded “Isn’t that a question that people at DC are asking themselves?. I don’t think the Marvel people are asking themselves that question.” He then went into a more diplomatic answer and offered best wishes for the next big DC project coming out:

“Success breeds contempt… I think there’s room for everyone to exist out here. The fact that it’s not working or doesn’t work, or people want a specific thing, that’s what makes the movies the movies and audiences audiences. Hopefully (DC) will make one of those movies one of these days and it’ll be as big as a Marvel movie… Hopefully Wonder Woman will be great. A friend of mine trained (Gal Gadot).”

“Justice League” opens in November next year.
