Real lfie brothers-in-law Casey Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix will reteam for the 1916-set period western “Far Bright Star,” their first collaboration since the 2010 documentary “I’m Still Here”.
Affleck will make his narrative directorial debut and Phoenix will star in the drama that adapts Robert Olmstead’s 2009 novel.
Damien Ober wrote the screenplay in which Phoenix will play an aging cavalryman leading a ragtag group of young men on a hunt for the legendary Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa.
When the group is attacked and most of his charges are killed, the man is left struggling for survival in the desert. Affleck and John Powers Middleton will produce.
