The Gavin O’Connor-directed, Ben Affleck-led feature “The Way Back” (formerly known as “Torrance”) has been pushed back from an October 18th release this year to a March 6th 2020 opening.
Affleck stars in the film as a former basketball all-star, who after struggling with addiction, attempts to comeback by becoming the coach of a disparate high school basketball team at his alma mater.
The film tested to reportedly solid commercial-friendly results and the new date allows Warners to take advantage of the start of basketball season and promote it during that time during NCAA and NBA.
Brad Ingelsby and O’Connor wrote the film which will now open opposite Pixar’s “Onward” and the Dylan O’Brien-led adventure “Monster Problems”.
