Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are re-teaming on the big screen on a film about notorious Boston mobster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger for Warner Bros. Pictures reports Reuters.
Bulger was the brutal boss of the Winter Hill Gang in Boston, at the same time he was an FBI informant on the side. He fled New England in 1994 and spent the next sixteen years hiding in Santa Monica until his arrest this past June.
Affleck will direct and Damon will star as Bulger in the film which Terence Winter (“The Sopranos,” “Boardwalk Empire”) is writing.
Damon tells GQ Magazine that “There are a couple of competing (Bulger) movies, and I don’t think it’s been announced yet that we’re doing it. But the sooner it’s announced the better, just because everyone else will back off, hopefully. I’m really excited about it.”
