Adamson To Direct Live-Action “Curious George”

Filmmaker Andrew Adamson, who helmed the first “Shrek” and “Chronicles of Narnia” films, has been set to helm the live-action film adaptation of classic children’s book series “Curious George” at Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.

Margret & H.A. Rey’s books chronicled the exploits of George and his owner, the Man in the Yellow Hat. The books have sold more than 75 million copies worldwide since the first was released in 1941.

Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, David Kirschner, Erica Huggins and Jon Shapiro will produce. The property has previously been adapted into an Emmy-award winning PBS television cartoon, and a 2006 animated feature which had Will Ferrell voicing the Man in the Yellow Hat.
