Adams, Shankman Set For “Enchanted” Sequel

Amy Adams is expected to return and Adam Shankman (“Hairspray,” “The Pacifier”) is in negotiations to direct “Disenchanted,” the upcoming sequel to Disney’s 2007 musical fantasy “Enchanted”.

Kevin Lima directed the original which followed a prototypical animated Disney princess, Giselle (Adams), who is thrust into the real-world. Songs by Alan Menken and true love soon followed along with a $340 million worldwide gross.

“Disenchanted” is set ten years after the first movie, with Giselle finding herself questioning her happily ever after, and accidentally triggering events that make everyone’s lives turn upside down in both the real world and in the animated kingdom of Andalasia.

Disney has been developing a sequel since 2010 and Anne Fletcher was previously attached to direct. Filming aims to begin Summer next year.
