An annual study by Forbes magazine into the most overpriced actors in Hollywood has listed Adam Sandler as the worst offender.
Sandler made his career on modestly budgeted comedies that did extraordinary business. However the budgets have only increased with time while the revenues have, to some extent, shrunk.
The combined failures of “Jack & Jill” and “That’s My Boy” in particular led to this listing, though due to the study’s timing the July hit “Grown Ups 2” wasn’t counted. Sandler films generate approximately $3.40 for every $1 the actor was paid.
The rest of the top ten includes: Katherine Heigl ($3.50), Reese Witherspoon ($3.90), Nicolas Cage ($6.00), Kevin James ($6.10), Denzel Washington ($8.30), Steve Carell ($10), Jennifer Aniston ($10.60), Matt Damon ($10.60) and Ryan Reynolds ($10.70).
