“Anchorman” writer/director Adam McKay has confirmed he is in early talks to direct an unnamed project at Marvel Studios.
McKay was brought in to rewrite the script for Marvel’s “Ant-Man” and potentially direct that film after original helmer Edgar Wright departed weeks before it was scheduled to start filming.
McKay opted out of directing with Peyton Reed ultimately taking the job, but it sounds like the studio were so happy with his work that they have pursued him for something else. McKay tells Crave Online:
“I just did a big rewrite on Ant-Man with Paul Rudd and had such a great time working with them that we’re kicking around ideas. Maybe I would take on one of the characters so we haven’t locked in anything, but discussions are definitely going on.”
What project that could be is unknown at this point as there’s been a lot of speculation about what titles Marvel could pursue next beyond already in the works titles like “Doctor Strange”.
