Adam Driver (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) and Laura Harrier (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”) are attached to star in Spike Lee’s crime thriller “Black Klansman” for Focus Features, Monkeypaw Productions, QC Entertainment, and Blumhouse.
The story follows Colorado Springs detective Ron Stallworth (played by John David Washington) who, in 1978, answered an ad in the local newspaper seeking new members to join the Ku Klux Klan.
Stallworth rose through the ranks to become the head of the local chapter – even though he’s African-American. A white officer was sent in his place for any in-person meetings.
Driver will play the role of an anti-social, brave and dedicated undercover police officer who is the best of the Colorado Springs police force.
Lee will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, and Kevin Willmott. Lee will also produce with Jason Blum, Jordan Peele, Sean McKittrick, Shaun Redick, and Raymond Mansfield.
