Adam Driver is in early talks to co-star with Matt Damon and “Killing Eve” actress Jodie Comer in Ridley Scott’s period drama “The Last Duel” for Disney Pictures and 20th Century Fox.
Set in 14th century France, this is an epic tale of betrayal and justice, told from three distinct points of view: two knights (Damon and Driver) whose bond is tested by treachery and a young woman (Comer) forced to navigate the brutal and oppressive culture of the era in order to survive.
Ben Affleck was originally eyeing what is now Driver’s leading role but opted out due to a scheduling conflict with “Deep Water”. He will instead appear in a supporting part. Damon and Affleck are co-writing the script with Nicole Holofcener (“Can You Ever Forgive Me”).
Disney and Fox have not yet greenlit the film and are still deciding how to proceed, but if it goes ahead it will begin production in early 2020. Scott, Affleck, Damon, Kevin Walsh and Drew Vinton will produce.
