Disney is reportedly looking to test a handful of girls over the next week for the last major role in its next instalment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
The part will essentially be the female lead of the action-adventure, and the love interest for the British soldier to be played by young Australian hunk Brenton Thwaites.
The list includes the likes of Lucy Boynton (“Miss Potter”), Kaya Scodelario (“The Maze Runner”), Gabriella Wilde (“Endless Love”), Alexandra Dowling (“The Musketeers”) and Jenna Thiam (“The Returned”). There are others as well, but those names haven’t been revealed.
The studio will do chemistry tests with Thwaites and the girls to see who best fits the role, and details about the part remain decidedly vague. Astrid Berges-Frisbey played the equivalent in the last film, a captive mermaid who falls for a missionary (Sam Claflin).
Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg helm the next film which also stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Javier Bardem. It is scheduled to begin production in the first quarter of next year.
