Rabbit Hole
Lionsgate has acquired North American distribution rights to the emotional drama “Rabbit Hole”.

David Lindsay-Abaire adapted the script from his Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play of the same name. Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart star as a husband and wife who fight to save their marriage after the death of their young son.

John Cameron Mitchell (“Shortbus,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”) directed and a release is planned around the end of the year.

The Skin I Live In
Sony Pictures Classics have acquired the US distribution rights to Pedro Almodovar’s next project “The Skin I Live In”.

Antonio Banderas stars as a plastic surgeon hunting down the men who raped his daughter. Shooting begins shortly and SPC will release the project next year.

The deal continues the distributors long-running work with Almodovar, having done the same for nine of his other films like “Volver” and “Broken Embraces”.

Cave of Forgotten Dreams
IFC Films have picked up Werner Herzog’s latest 3D documentary “Cave of Forgotten Dreams”.

The film goes inside the Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc cave in southern France, said to hold the earliest known visions of mankind.

No release date has yet been scheduled.

IM Global and Reliance Big Entertainment have sold 90% of the worldwide rights to the upcoming “Judge Dredd” reboot starring Karl Urban.

Despite not a frame of the film being shot as yet, shooting kicks off shortly in South Africa, the financiers have secured around $30 million in financing for the project.

I Saw the Devil
Magnet Releasing has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to Kim Ji-woon’s Korean thriller “I Saw the Devil”.

The story follows a secret agent (Byung-hun Lee) who tracks a serial killer who murdered his fiancee.

Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project
IFC Films has acquired worldwide rights, excluding Canada, to Barry Avrich’s much-anticipated documentary “Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project”.

The film is described as a “powerful, uncensored, no-holds-barred” account that traces the legendary co-founder of Miramax Films from his early days as a concert promoter on the cold streets of Buffalo to his infamous reputation as one of the last, old-fashioned Hollywood moguls famed for being an asshole in order to do what needs to be done.
