Abu-Assad To Direct “The Mountain Between Us”

Hany Abu-Assad (“Paradise Now”) is in talks to direct the film adaptation of Charles Martin’s novel “The Mountain Between Us” at 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.

The story follows a female writer heading off to get married and a doctor returning home from a medical conference.

After their flight is cancelled, the strangers agree to charter a ride only to see the pilot suffer a heart attack and crash into a desolate snowy mountain.

The doctor is an avid climber and he struggles to help get her down from the mountain in harsh weather.

J. Mills Goodloe adapted the script with Scott Frank being sought for re-writes. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping will produce.

It was reported last year that Michael Fassbender was in early talks to star. No word if that’s still the case.
