Abu-Assad Counts Eleven Minutes

Hany Abu-Assad (“paradise Now,” “Nazareth”) is set to direct “Eleven Minutes” for Hollywood Gang Productions says Variety.

An adaptation of the steamy bestselling novel by Paulo Coelho (“The Alchemist”), the story revolves around Maria, a young girl from a Brazilian village who is swept off to Geneva in an affair with a Swiss businessman.

The book’s title refers to the average duration of a sexual encounter, and much of Maria’s discoveries occur between the sheets.

Abu-Assad will rewrite a script by Marcos Bernstein.
