Rumours of J.J. Abrams departure from the upcoming “Star Trek” film franchise reboot proved false last week… or did they.
Seems the confusion lies not in his involvement but rather whether he will direct. With two TV shows and several movies awaiting his involvement, the man simply may not have the time and will only produce rather than direct.
Speaking with actor Greg Grunberg, IGN Movies has learned that Abrams has just finished the Trek script and is “really, really happy” with it.
As for the confusion, Grunberg says “I keep hearing the same thing. One week he tells me he’s not sure. One week, he told me, ‘No. I’m definitely just producing.’ And then just last week he was like, ‘Man, I’m really excited to do it.’ I said, ‘Are you doing it?’ He said, ‘I don’t know.’ I mean, honestly, it’s like he’s still really up in the air”.
