Nicole Kidman and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“The Get Down”) are both in early talks to join James Wan’s “Aquaman” film adaptation at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Wan and the studio have been meeting with numerous actors over the past fortnight to fill in more supporting roles with official offers forth both going out the other day.
Kidman would play the mother of Aquaman (Jason Momoa) who in the comics is Atlanna who hails from royalty in the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. She falls in love with a lighthouse keeper and gives birth to the boy who will one day grow up to be a bridge between two worlds. How much of that storyline will carry over to the film is unclear.
Abdul-Mateen II would play the villain Black Manta who is notable for his unique battle-costume, trident and deadly schemes. In this film he would be the secondary villain to Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master.
Amber Heard as royal love interest Mera and Willem Dafoe as scientist Dr. Vulko. Filming is slated to begin in April in Australia.
