ABC is developing a second comedy series set in the Marvel universe, even as their previously announced first foray is still stuck in development.
Speaking with IGN at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee days his network has two Marvel comedies in development.
The first is the previously announced “Damage Control,” a half-hour, single-camera sitcom about the people who clean up the messes left by superheroes battling in their city. Lee says: “That’s the one that’s going to be coming out this season. I haven’t read it yet. I can’t wait to see it. We hope it’s going to be great.”
Lee declined to talk about the second comedy, but did say: “in the long term, we’d love it to be [on ABC]. We definitely want to do Marvel comedies as well as dramas and of course, as you know, we supply lots of dramas to Netflix.”
ABC already has “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” and “Agent Carter” on the air and has ordered the SHIELD spin-off “Marvel’s Most Wanted” to pilot. They’re also continuing development on another Marvel series being produced by John Ridley.
