“The West Wing” creator and “Steve Jobs” writer Aaron Sorkin is set to make his directorial debut with the biopic “Molly’s Game” at Sony Pictures.
Sorkin had already been working on the project as writer, but will now segue to helming it as well. The story follows skier Molly Bloom who, when her Olympic dreams were dashed, became an L.A. cocktail waitress and eventually a underground poker madam who organised games for Hollywood’s elite.
Sorkin had already been working on the project, which recently was set up at Sony, as its screenwriter, but he will now segue to helming his first-ever movie. Mark Gordon and Amy Pascal are producing with the project being fast tracked.
