“Breaking Bad” actor Aaron Paul is being rumored to star in the first and currently untitled “Star Wars” spin-off feature in the works at Disney Pictures says Making Star Wars.
2014’s “Godzilla” director Gareth Edwards is helming the project which will be released in between the first two entries in the sequel trilogy – J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII”.
Like Paul’s casting, the only story details of the spin-off are rumors right now, but it is believed to revolve around original trilogy space pirate Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca. There’s also rumors that elements from the spin-off will overlap with the Rian Johnson film.
No word on what role Paul would play as such. Filming on the project is expected to get underway at Pinewood Studios outside London in the UK sometime in 2015, likely after the currently shooting twenty-fourth James Bond film “Spectre” wraps at the facility. It is currently targeting a late 2016 release.
Paul recently participated in Jason Reitman’s live script read of the “The Empire Strikes Back” script playing Luke Skywalker.
