Frank Spotnitz, the legendary former “The X-Files” writer and “The Man In The High Castle” creator, will shepherd a live-action TV series based on the “Warhammer 40,000” franchise.
“Eisenhorn” will draw from the series of novels of the same name penned by comic scribe Dan Abnett. Spotnitz will showrun and executive produce the series, but broadcast partner or streaming platform is attached as yet.
The synopsis: “While humanity’s armies wage unending war across a million battlefields, in the darkness, a secret conflict rages – fought by the agents of the Imperial Inquisition. Drawing from sci-fi, fantasy and crime genres, ‘Eisenhorn’ will see Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn and his band of investigators fight to thwart the monstrous schemes of aliens, heretics and daemons before mankind’s doom is sealed.”
Big Light Productions and Games Workshop will produce the project which marks the first time any work from the vast fantasy universe has been adapted into a live-action medium. A CG animated film, “Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie,” was released in 2010.
