A report on Friday at Screen Crush indicated that a list of upcoming DC and Marvel LEGO tie-ins includes an item called ‘Superman Black Zero Escape’. In the comics, the Black Zero character was a space saboteur who destroyed planets and was hired to destroy Krypton.
Its inclusion on the list has lead to a lot of speculation that Black Zero will make an appearance in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” alongside Michael Shannon’s main villain General Zod. Said speculation however is a rather large leap of logic to make. Consider it pure rumor for now.
More concrete but still a long way off is talk of the return of The Hulk in his own franchise in the wake of Mark Ruffalo’s performance stealing the show in this year’s “The Avengers”.
Marvel Studios’ frontman Kevin Feige has previously indicated that the company has no plans for a third attempt at the Hulk, keeping the character only in “The Avengers” and its direct sequels.
Now though, he sounds like he’s coming around to the idea of the angry green giant getting his own playground. When asked by MTV about the possibility, Feige said “Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in Avengers? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could.”
If he were to do another one, which story from the comics would he try and use? “Planet Hulk is a cool story. World War Hulk is a cool story. I think there’s pitfalls of continuity overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I’d say everything is on the table.”
Of course timing is a big issue – “We certainly are not even going to attempt that until Avengers 2. So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”
