A “Single White Female” TV Remake Planned

NBC has handed out a script commitment for a reboot of the 1992 soapy psychological thriller “Single White Female” which starred Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The project is described as a modern-day reboot of the cult classic written by Don Roos and directed by Barbet Schroeder based on John Lutz’s novel “SWF Seeks Same”.

The new version shifts the action to San Francisco and changes up the premise somewhat – in this a con artist uses her professional connections to target a seemingly moneyed colleague in search of a roommate. She slowly begins to realize that her mark may not be quite as innocuous as she first seems.

Eric Garcia will pen the script and executive produce. It joins TV reboots of plenty of other films on the way including “Sneakers,” “The Lost Boys,” “The Departed,” “Enemy of the State” and “Let the Right One In” amongst others.
