Martin Freeman has clarified some comments he made a while back about a one-off Christmas special involving the BBC’s “Sherlock”.
Speaking with The Telegraph, Freeman says the British broadcaster is aiming for a Christmas 2015 Sherlock special: “If that’s going to be a special – I’m speaking off-message here; if this was New Labour I’d get fired – I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That’s what I understand.”
Freeman added that filming probably won’t get underway until early 2015 due to his own schedule, co-star Benedict Cumberbatch’s schedule, and producer Steven Moffat’s “Doctor Who” commitments. He can confirm though that Mary (Amanda Abbington) is on the show “for the foreseeable future”.
Whether that Christmas Special will be a one-off or, hopefully, the first of a new season of three telemovies – we’ll have to wait and see.
