Paramount Pictures and Weed Road Pictures have set Patrick Osborne to develop, with plans to direct, a film adaptation of the acclaimed mobile puzzle game “Monument Valley”.
The plan is for a live-action/CG hybrid family franchise based on the Ustwo Games title which takes place in a surreal Escher-esque landscape as the player navigates a character across various stages having to change the perspective of elements at different points. The game has had over 160 million downloads worldwide.
The film will send contemporary live-action characters into the game’s mind-bending world. Akiva Goldsman is producing and a screenwriter will be set shortly to work closely with Osborne on the adaptation.
Osborne won the Best Animated Short Film Oscar for “Feast” and is currently directing “Nimona” at Fox and Blue Sky.
