A Hair Salon Franchise Gets A Biopic

If you think movies based on toys and board games is pushing it, how about a franchise of high-end blow dry hair salons? Universal Pictures has optioned the life rights for siblings Alli Webb and Michael Landau, co-founders of DryBar.

The story follows a young woman and professional stylist who, with no business experience and the help of her brother, defied everyone’s expectations to create the popular DryBar franchise.

Opening in Los Angeles in 2010, the salons are now serving forty locations across the United States. The salons are unique in that they don’t offer haircuts or colouring, only washing, blow drying and styling with cocktail names for different types.

Karen Rosenfelt (“Twilight,” “The Devil Wears Prada”) will produce.
