First rumored the other month, THR reports that a new deal between Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures and Paramount Pictures will see five of the toy giants properties come together in one cinematic universe.
The already existing “G.I. Joe” franchise will join with characters from the “Micronauts,” “Visionairies,” “M.A.S.K.” and “ROM” brands for an “interconnected, cross-property onscreen universe”.
Allspark Pictures will produce the films with those involved teaming with Paramount to shape the new universe from the five properties. The plan will be similar to the recent effort by Paramount and Hasbro which saw a “Transformers” writers room of top talent assemble to map out further installments in that franchise.
The same treatment will be applied here, giving writers a creative roadmap to follow. Paramount CEO Brad Grey says: “Paramount and Hasbro have had a longstanding relationship and we’re proud of the success we’ve enjoyed on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises. We’re excited to grow our agreement and make even more movies based upon these popular and powerful Hasbro characters and their worlds.”
