Donnie Yen has announced that he is planning on returning for a fourth film in the “IP Man” martial arts franchise following the success of the third entry earlier this year.
The action legend took to his Instagram to make the announcement, confirming the gap between production on the third and fourth will be far shorter than the five years between the second and third films. He also confirmed that the series’ regular director Wilson Yip is returning.
“IP Man 3” pulled in an impressive $156 million worldwide which is probably a big reason why the pair decide to make the next one so quickly.
Yen will once again play martial arts master who created the style known as Wing Chun, whose most famous student was legendary martial artist Bruce Lee whom was played by Kwok-Kwan Chan in the most recent film.
I want to share this very excited news with you all, my good friend Wilson Yip, who had directed all of my last three Ipman series, tonight, we have decided to reunite and continue to make our next project together, Ipman4!
