Mattel is teaming with Spolipsist Film to turn the fan favorite property “Dino-Riders” into a live-action film franchise they hope will rival Paramount and Hasbro’s “Transformers”.
Launched as an animated adventure series in 1988, though only running for one season, the story follows a futuristic war in which an evolved human race named the Valorians try to save the galaxy from intergalactic warlord Krulos and his Rulon minions.
The Valorians travel back to prehistoric times and use their psychic powers to speak to the dinosaurs and enlist their help to defeat the Rulons.
No writers are on board just yet, but Alissa Phillis and Stephen L’Heureux are producing and the tone is said to be a bit more family movie oriented than the “Transformers” films.
