A Deeper Bite Into “Fright Night”

Scribe Marti Noxon tells Variety that Colin Farrell’s vampire character in the upcoming “Fright Night” remake for Dreamworks Pictures won’t be the emo-fied vegetarian vampires of the “Twilight”-ilk.

“He’s a much more ‘Jaws’-like vampire in the Amblin tradition” says Noxon of the remake. The original film followed Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale), a young man who is convinced his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon) is a vampire and seeks the help of ageing horror actor turned late night TV host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) to help him.

One big change however is the setting which exchanges the quiet suburbia of the original for the dazzling lights of Las Vegas. As a result the Peter Vincent role has been reconceived as a “Criss Angel-type” Vegas illusionist who helps Charley (Anton Yelchin) take on Dandrige (Farrell) reports STYD.

Craig Gillespie directs the film, which also stars Toni Collette, and shooting kicks off in July.
